I’m delivering a presentation tomorrow to the Victorian Association of Teachers of English.
This post is to make a point. If you want to know what…you’ll have to wait!

this is easy: if you can teach a dog to dance, you can teach a child to read and write. and, the dog is easier. certainly more fun.

It’s too easy. You are avoiding saying the Victorian English Teachers’ Association, because it is now some years since any of them under 40 can use punctuation of any kind. Possessive plural, something which was taught as a basic piece of grammar in Primary School until the 1980s, has long been avoided as being too difficult for Grade 12 students to absorb. Lowering the bar to semi-illiteracy via post modernism is the go.
